I’m glad you’re here!

I thought this page would be a nice way for us to get acquainted.

You see… this blog is all about our journey. Our journey together… my “Sweet Louise” and me.

Our lives and our stories are in TANDEM ~ as we move through these years in the amazing Grace of our Heavenly Father. Emma is my, now, thirteen-year-old daughter.

You may have noticed there are only two seats on this bicycle. Yep…I’m a single mom. So it’s just the two of us right now, pedaling through this beautiful world : )

The definition of ‘tandem’ refers to the position/placement of the riders, rather than the number.

In our experiences, sometimes I am the one in front, leading and steering the way.  But there have been many occasions in which Emma is leading. God uses her, often in my life, to bring clarity and direction.

Do you see the basket?!  This represents the things that we carry on our journey.  As I post to the blog, you will learn that anything can go in there ~

Some days it feels like we’re pedaling home with FLOWERS, the sweet fragrance whirling around us on the breeze.  Other days, the basket may be filled with EMOTIONS. Sometimes happy ones ~ excitement, anticipation, or joy,  filling the basket with light and beauty. The kind of days you want to last forever!  But other paths on our journey feel darkened. Overcast. Our basket becomes infused with sadness and life seems to be raining defeat.

That basket just might carry some SANDWICHES and a KITE for a picnic at the park : ) Maybe you’ll find some picture BOOKS inside,  to take and read to the little ones down the road. It might hold a beach-towel and some LEMONADE for a day spent in the sun. Sometimes the woven basket gently cradles our CATS ~ they do add such laughter and warmth to our days!

But don’t miss the little bird…there on the handlebars. Do you see him?

That little bird is a constant and visual reminder of the beauty on this journey!

The beauty that surrounds us in nature, in the love of our family and friends, and in the serendipity* of life. As a bird flits and flies from place to place, so do my abilities to remain focused on these blessings. The days present their challenges with schedule commitments, home maintenance, and shopping lists. But calm and quiet do peek in every now and then.  And these are the sweet moments that I hold dear.

In our technological world, as we read typewritten words from an illuminated screen, this blog is meant to be a breath of fresh air. A reminder of the simpler things. Like stars against a black velvet night sky. Or wildflowers along the side of a long and dusty, August road.  I hope you are encouraged to pause and see the blessings and the beauties in your days.

May this blog be a cozy place of respite.  May it highlight the similarities of our journeys. Our same striving. Our common loves.

I’m here to share.  Because I believe that there is profound human connection in sharing our stories. Everybody has one ~ this just happens to be ours.

And since I love to write, it’s my creative outlet as I venture into this unknown territory of parenting a teen.

There was no handbook.
